Admission Requirements
All applications are considered equally regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status, or handicap. Technical standards require certain health requirements.

As of 2008, 15 hours of general education, or an Associates degree level, will be required for entrance into all programs in radiologic technology.

Application for admission should be submitted by December 15 for consideration prior to enrollment in the June class. Should vacancies exist after this date, late applications will be reviewed.

General Admission Criteria

Admission decisions are based upon grade point averages, SAT or comparable ACT scores, college placement scores, academic and character references, personal interviews and assessment of the applicant's motivation and personal qualities needed for successful completion of the program.

Applicants to the Program of Radiologic Technology must be age 18 or over by January 1 after entrance date and must present successful completion of the following:

  • High school graduation or equivalent

  • Required courses:
    • 2 units of college preparatory mathematics (Geometry and Algebra 2 preferred)
    • 2 units of science (1 year Biology or A + P required, others may be chemistry or physics)
    • 1 unit Computer Science
  • 15 hours of College mathematics, College level English and/or oral communications, Natural Sciences, Computer applications course, Humanities and Social sciences
  • Recommended: SAT score above 950, ACT score above 17(OPTIONAL)
  • Record of immunizations

  • Documentation of Tetanus/Diphtheria, TB/Mantoux test, 2 MMRs or proven immunity and serologic evidence of immunity or 2 doses of Varicella vaccine are required.
  • College placement test scores with requirements equivelent to the nursing sciences
  • Minimum requirements on North Carolina Community College systems placement tests:

    COMPASS: Reading 81, Writing 72, Pre-Algebra 47, optional- Algebra 47

    ASSET: Reading 41, Writing 41, Pre-Algebra 46, optional-Algebra 46
  • Age 18 by January prior to June start date

In order to participate in the Clinical component of the program at Wilkes Regional Medical Center, Program Entrants are required to undergo institutional screening, to include drug screening. (This is to be in compliance with WRMC's requirement for all personnel.)

WRMC Radiologic Technology Program supports the following affiliations towards a Baccalaureate degree.

  • BS in Radiologic Sciences, Clarion University,
    Clarion, PA
  • BS in Radiologic Technology, Greensboro College, Greensboro, NC
